#4: A Disgustingly Fast 8 Months

Image
I'm about to finish semester 2 of my master's and I'm failing to understand where the time has gone since September. The only barometer I have for the passage of this time is that I'm much hairier now. I've completed my last classes and my final two assignments will be done in the next week or so. Then a break for a month, final semester doing my final project and then... something? It's a unique blend of anxiety, anticipation and excitement I'm feeling that I expect most people experience at an earlier stage of life than I'm at. Though with that said, being the token mature student has had its perks in that I've been pretty self-assured about my ability to succeed (not that much though, I get anxiety over ordering a coffee for fuck sake) So like... what happens after college? I'm set to start a few freelance writing gigs soon and that's fine, but it would be nice to get a proper, salaried position sooner rather than later with health insuran...

#3: Soz, I've Been Busy

Image
Have you played Elden Ring ? No? You should cause it's wonderful and terrifying. Anyway. I've been busy with college, and while I love it, it has a unique way of being tiring. I'm not at it 24/7, but it's mentally draining, and I am working on assignments every day to some extent. Look at this perfect grammar, though. The whole journalism thing is really paying off. When I'm not doing college work, I've been trying to juggle my admiration for several media franchises and entertainment things that have seen recent releases. Elden Ring is a multi-hundred-hour adventure that I want to complete to the fullest extent I can. The Batman was an engrossing psychological action crime thriller that I want to craft a headcanon for. Ghost has a new album out in about an hour, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is finally coming in May. Y'know when they say too much of a good thing is a bad thing? There is so much for me to be excited about in movies and games and TV, and I...

#2: Happy Blue Monday!

Image
Happy Blue Monday, everyone! Blue Monday is recognised as the "most depressing day of the year" by... some people? As far as I understand, this is pseudoscience nonsense, but it creates an opportunity to take stock of things. Things are tough the world over for reasons we're all painfully aware of. I'm not about to go down the COVID rabbit hole here, we all know what the deal is. 2022 is in full swing now with people returning to work and college. The returning humdrum of regular life might feel like another spin on the never-ending turntable that is time, with Blue Monday being considered as its nadir by some. But you know what? Fuck that. Rather than succumb to the overwrought stigma attached to this day, I'm doing things I enjoy to ring in my last week of freedom before returning to college. I'm playing video games, attempting to compose some music, and I'm going to continue my Malcolm in the Middle binge later. Life can be difficult enough to navigate ...

#1: Keeping myself sharp AND writing about things I like

Image
Hi everyone and happy (?) new year! I've decided I've spent far too many days doing nothing but eating terrible things and gaming, so here is my attempt at appearing productive. This is the blog with no aim, a place to celebrate the things I enjoy and a space to (occasionally) rant about things that drive me crazy. D'ya like gaming and music and movies and TV shows and things? Well, stick around cause you might come across something you also like, agree with, share a hatred for, or are also bemused by. I have basically no idea how any of this works, and I have no schedule for releasing posts. It's truly the mild west of personal expression going down here. I've been mostly writing about gaming the last two years  (more on that later), and I'm currently doing an MA in journalism (also more on that later), so I have a loose idea of writing at this stage. What am I doing? I have no idea! Will it be fun? Maybe! Will you learn anything of value? Probably not! In fair...
